Summary

  • In Week 1 of 2017, SOS Médecins saw increased activity among children aged 2 to 14 (+12%) and adults aged 15 to 74 (+6%), while other age groups showed a decline.

  • In these two age groups (2 to 14 years and 15 to 74 years), visits for influenza/flu-like illness, isolated fever, and gastroenteritis increased.

  • The proportion of flu-related activity is higher than in the previous two years (15% across all ages), an increase compared to week 52 (13%). However, flu-related visits among adults aged 75 and older are down compared to the previous week (-30%).

  • Other winter illnesses (upper respiratory tract infections, bronchitis, pneumonia, and asthma) are decreasing across all age groups, with a proportion of coded cases that is stable or lower compared to the previous two years.

  • There was an increase in consultations for gastroenteritis and vomiting among children under 15, with the proportion of coded activity remaining stable compared to the previous two years.

  • Note: There has been an increase in injuries among children and adults aged 15 to 74, as well as a rise in falls among adults aged 75 and older.
