Key Points

In Week 01 (December 29, 2025, to January 4, 2026), the second week of the end-of-year school break, activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased among those aged 15 and older (+16%, or +11,098 visits) and decreased among children (-26%, or -9,755 visits). Overall activity was significantly higher than in previous years among those aged 75 and older and among children under 2.

Respiratory indicators continued to rise among adults, at levels comparable to previous years: pneumonia (+37%, or +706 visits), asthma attacks (+24%, or +275 visits), acute bronchitis (+21%, or +1,118 visits), upper respiratory tract conditions (+16%, or +2,673 procedures). For the second consecutive week, the number of procedures for influenza/influenza-like illness was down among children (-45%, or -3,253 procedures) and its increase was slowing among adults (+6%, or +718 procedures).
Among children, all respiratory indicators were stable or declining.
Among other indicators showing an increase this week, we note a rise in cases for:

  • Trauma among those aged 15–74 (+31%, or +430 visits) and those aged 2–14 (+36%, or +73 visits);

  • Gastroenteritis among adults (+28%, or +977 cases) and those aged 2–14 (+12%, or +189 cases);

  • Low back pain and sciatica (+18%, or +379 cases), urinary tract infections (+18%, or +264 cases), and dental and ENT conditions (+16%, or +214 cases) among those aged 15–74;

  • Deterioration in general health among those aged 75 and older (+23%, or +67 cases);

  • Infectious conjunctivitis in adults (+15%, or +73 visits);

  • Chickenpox among children (+32%, or +159 visits).

Finally, procedures for anxiety were on the rise among those aged 15 and older (+23%, or +201 procedures), as well as for depressive disorders among those aged 15–64 (+55%, or +80 procedures).
