Summary
During Week 4 (January 22–28, 2018), overall activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased among children aged 2–14 (+11%, +2,345 visits), remained stable among children under 2 and adults aged 15–74, and decreased among those aged 75 and older (-9%).
Among seasonal illnesses in children, there was a decrease in visits for influenza/flu-like illness (-7%, -296 visits) and gastroenteritis (-5%, -155 visits), following two weeks of increases. Meanwhile, visits for bronchiolitis (+15%, +45 visits), bronchitis (+33%, +379 visits), and upper respiratory tract infections (+19%, +1,986 visits) are on the rise for the second consecutive week. Among adults, visits for influenza/influenza-like illness and gastroenteritis are also declining (-8%, -555 visits and -7%, -335 visits).
Among nonspecific indicators, there has been an increase in visits for malaise, asthma, and allergies among both children and adults. Visits for infectious conjunctivitis (+42%, +84 visits) are on the rise among 2- to 14-year-olds.
Finally, since week 50 (December 11–17, 2017), there has been an unusual increase in consultations for measles in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. This increase is more pronounced among adults than among children.
