SOS Médecins National Newsletter, January 26, 2010
Over the past week, the total volume of activity at SOS Médecins clinics has stabilized compared to the previous week. This trend applies to all age groups. Nationwide, the number of calls suggesting flu-like symptoms has stabilized across all geographic regions. Over the past week, diagnoses of "clinical influenza" have continued to decline. This decrease affects all age groups. The proportion of "clinical influenza" diagnoses accounts for less than 1% of activity.
The proportion of cases for the "gastroenteritis" indicator has stabilized but remains at a high level. More than 25% of calls are related to gastroenteritis. The proportion of cases for the "bronchiolitis/respiratory conditions in infants" indicator, after having declined sharply since late December, has begun to rise again over the past two weeks in all geographic regions.
The number of deaths certified by SOS Médecins associations has decreased slightly compared to the previous week. For the past week, we observe a stabilization of total activity in most areas and a continued decline in "clinical influenza" diagnoses.
