Key Points
In Week 03 (January 15–21, 2024), activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased among children (+17%, or +4,976 visits) and decreased slightly among adults (-5%, or -3,208 visits).
Seasonal respiratory indicators are on the rise again among children, ranging from +15% (acute bronchitis, +207 cases) to +25% (asthma, +105 cases). Only cases of influenza/influenza-like illness are on the rise across all age groups (+66% among children and +31% among adults, representing 1,823 and 2,377 additional cases, respectively), remaining the second most common condition among the top 10 most frequent illnesses for both children and adults. Procedures for pneumonia are now increasing only among children under 2 years of age in S03 (+45%, or +21 procedures) but remain, across all age groups, at a level significantly higher than in previous years.
Among other indicators, note the increase in cases for isolated fever across all age groups (+19%, or +181 cases). Among children, procedures for gastroenteritis and vomiting have stabilized (+5%) following a sharp increase the previous week (+43% in Week 02). Viral syndrome (+18%, or +19 procedures) and chickenpox (+28%, or +26 procedures) are on the rise among children under 2 years of age, though the numbers remain small.
Among those aged 75 and older, likely due to inclement weather across France, there was a rise in the number of cases involving falls (+10%, or +17 cases), though the sample size was small.
