Summary

In Week 2 of 2019 (January 7–13), the first week after the Christmas break, total activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased by 12% (1,906 visits) among children aged 2–14 and decreased in other age groups.

Over the past week, with the exception of the flu, all seasonal respiratory illnesses were down across all age groups. The main highlights for this week include increases in activity for: - Influenza/flu-like illness among children under 15 years of age (+131%, or +869 cases) and, to a lesser extent, among those aged 15–74 (+20%, or +683 cases),- Gastroenteritis and vomiting in children under 15 years of age (+46%, or +931 cases, and +65%, or +252 cases, respectively) and diarrhea (+31%) in those aged 2–14, - Isolated fever in children under 15 years of age (+36%, or +215 cases).

In addition, there was an increase in cases of abdominal pain among those aged 2–14 (+67%) and those aged 15–74 (15%), as well as for trauma (+67%) among those aged 2–14. Among adults aged 75 and older, the most common conditions all showed a downward trend.
