Summary

During Week 5 (January 29–February 4, 2018), overall activity at SOS Médecins clinics remained stable among children and decreased among adults (-840 visits).

For both children and adults, activity related to seasonal illnesses was stable or even declining, with the exception of upper respiratory tract infections (+4%, +509 visits, and +8%, +670 visits). Thus, visits for influenza (-10%) and gastroenteritis (-6%) have been declining for 2 weeks among children and 4 weeks among adults. However, these two conditions account for a significant proportion of coded activity, at 11% and 8%, respectively. Consultations for bronchiolitis are down (-8%) following a moderate increase observed last week.

Trends in non-specific indicators show a slight increase in visits among children for infectious conjunctivitis (+15%, +79 visits), isolated fever (+5%, +43 visits), and allergies (+12%, +52 visits). Among adults, there was an increase in infectious conjunctivitis (+9%, +21 visits).

Finally, regarding the measles outbreak in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, in week 5, the number of visits increased, particularly among those under 15, while it decreased among adults.
