Activity at SOS Médecins clinics remained stable over the past week, at a higher level than during the same period in 2012.

Flu diagnoses are rising sharply nationwide and across regions for all age groups (+30%, 10,663 weekly cases) and account for 18% of diagnoses and over 51% of reasons for calls. Flu-related activity is at a level significantly higher than during the 2010–2011 and 2011–2012 seasons.

Over the past week, there has been an increase in bronchiolitis diagnoses among children under 2 years of age (+33%, 158 cases). Gastroenteritis activity is declining (-15%, 4,332 cases) for numbers comparable to the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 seasons. Measles activity remains stable at a low level. Calls to SOS Médecins regarding deaths are stable and comparable to the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 seasons.

Influenza is the most common condition encountered in patients’ homes across all age groups, followed by nasopharyngitis and gastroenteritis.
