Summary

In Week 8 (February 17–23, 2020), the second week of school vacation, activity decreased by 17% among children (a decrease of 5,990 visits), remained stable among adults aged 15–74, and increased by 10% among those aged 75 and older (an increase of 637 visits).

Seasonal and non-specific indicators were mostly down over the past week; in particular, visits for influenza/flu-like illness decreased by 26% across all age groups (a decrease of 3,726 visits). At the regional level, influenza activity is decreasing in most metropolitan regions, with a peak likely reached in week 07. However, there is an increase in cases for gastrointestinal conditions among adults: acute abdominal pain (+11%, or +133 cases) and gastroenteritis among those aged 75 and older (+21%, or +35 cases).

Among other indicators, there was an increase in cases of urinary tract infections among adults over 15 years of age (+15%, or +255 cases), allergies among those aged 75 and older (+51%, or +21 cases), and chickenpox among children aged 2–14 years (+13%, or +39 cases).
