Summary

In Week 8 (February 18–24, 2019), total SOS Médecins activity declined significantly among school-age children (–22%, or –4,962 visits) and moderately among children under 2 and adults aged 15–74 (–4% and –6%, respectively). Among those aged 75 and older, there was a slight increase of +6% (equivalent to +457 cases).

In line with recent weather conditions, the following trends were observed: - a significant increase in allergy-related cases across all age groups (+30%, or +291 cases), driven primarily by those aged 15–74 (+49%, or +238 cases) and in the regions of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, PACA, and Île-de-France; - a marked decline in seasonal respiratory conditions, particularly for influenza/flu-like syndrome across all age groups (-40%, or -6,640 visits), which has been decreasing for the past two weeks.

There was also an increase in cases: - for infectious conjunctivitis and gastroenteritis among children under 2 years of age (up 15% and 6%, respectively) and among those aged 15–74 (up 19% and 6%, respectively); - for chickenpox in children (+8%); for trauma (+17%) and acute abdominal pain (+14%) in adults aged 15–74; for deaths (+14%), deterioration in general health (+21%), and urinary tract infections (+23%) in those over 75.
