SOS Médecins National Newsletter, February 25, 2014

Overall Activity Trends: Activity at SOS Médecins clinics has remained stable across all age groups for the second consecutive week, both nationally and regionally. There has been a slight decrease in activity among children under 15 years of age (-10%, -2,134 consultations), likely due to the winter school break.

Trends in seasonal indicators Over the past week, the monitored seasonal indicators (influenza, asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia, ENT infections, and gastroenteritis) have remained stable across all age groups both nationally and regionally. The indicator for influenza/influenza-like illness is down among those under 15 years of age (-15%, -255 cases) and among adults under 75 (-8%, -290 cases), while a slight increase persists among those aged 75 and older (+14%, +16 cases). Case numbers across all age groups are lower than in 2012 and 2013 for the same period. Regionally, a decline in activity is also observed for this indicator, except in the Northwest region. Among children under 2 years of age, bronchiolitis diagnoses remain stable (209 weekly cases) at a level slightly higher than in 2012 and 2013.
