Summary

  • In Week 7 of 2017, overall activity at SOS Médecins clinics decreased among children aged 2–14 (-18%) and adults aged 15–74 (-4%), but remained stable among children under 2 and increased by 4% among adults aged 75 and older.

  • Among seasonal illnesses, there was an increase in consultations for fever alone across all age groups (+7%), as well as for asthma among children aged 2–14 (+5%). Consultations for bronchiolitis among children under 2 have stabilized, with the share of activity for this indicator higher than in the previous two years. The share of activity related to influenza continues to decline across all age groups (-42% across all ages). Other winter illnesses (bronchitis, pneumonia, gastroenteritis) are declining across all age groups. Their shares of activity are higher among children (with the exception of bronchitis).

  • Among children under 2 years of age, there was an increase in visits for conjunctivitis (+11%) and vomiting (+9%). A slight increase in visits for allergies was noted among children aged 2–14.

  • Among adults, there has been an increase in consultations for trauma (+11%) and for low back pain/sciatica (+12%). Also noteworthy is an increase in consultations for urinary tract infections among those aged 15–74 (+9%) and for heart failure (+27%) and anxiety (+22%) among those aged 75 and older.
