Summary
In Week 7 (February 11–17, 2019), for the second consecutive week, total activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased among adults aged 75 and older (+8%), decreased among children aged 2–14 (-23%), and remained stable in other age groups.
Cases of influenza/influenza-like illness decreased for the first week across all age groups except among people aged 75 and older (+13%, or +66 cases). This diagnosis accounts for 19% of coded cases among children (the second most common diagnosis) and 20% among adults (the most common diagnosis). These figures are higher than those observed during this period in the past two seasons.
Among other seasonal conditions, there was an increase in cases for: - pneumonia among those aged 75 and older (+13%), - vomiting among adults aged 15 and older (+10%) and gastroenteritis among those aged 75 and older (+30%), - allergies in adults (+13%) and infectious conjunctivitis in those aged 15–74 (+18%).
In addition, there was an increase in medical procedures for chickenpox in children (+13%), low back pain/sciatica in adults (+15%), and urinary tract infections in people aged 15–74 (+13%).
