Summary: In Week 06 (February 8–14, 2021), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics declined among children aged 2–14 after four weeks of increases (-5.4%, or -1,001 visits) and remained slightly higher among children under 2 years of age (+5.3%, or +346 visits). It remained stable among adults (-3%, or -1,243 visits).
In Week 06, medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 across all age groups were down slightly by 4%, with 2,836 procedures recorded (vs. 2,955 in Week 05) and accounting for 4.2% of total activity across all age groups (vs. 4.3% in Week 05). This decline is observed across all age groups (-5.8% among 2- to 14-year-olds, -4.2% among 15- to 74-year-olds, and -2.9% among those aged 75 and older), with the exception of children under 2 years of age (+19%, or +5 cases). Suspected COVID-19 is the sixth most common diagnosis among children and the fourth among adults. At the regional level, medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 are on the rise in Grand-Est (+20%, or +47 procedures), Pays de Loire (+13%, or +18 procedures), PACA (+4%, or +15 procedures), and Normandy (+3%, or +6 procedures), and are stable or declining in other regions. Since the start of surveillance, 180,199 procedures for suspected COVID-19 have been performed.
Among seasonal conditions, there has been an increase in procedures for vomiting among those aged 15–74 (+7.4%, or +26 procedures), bronchitis among adults (+10.7%, or +113 procedures) and children (+9.6%, or +125 procedures), asthma among children (+14%, or +54 visits, of which +49 were among those aged 2–14), as well as pneumonia among those aged 2–14 (+18%, or +17 visits). Among children under 2 years of age, procedures for bronchiolitis (+10.8%, or +31 procedures) and gastroenteritis (+8.6%, or +30 procedures) are also on the rise.
Among the most common conditions, we note an increase in cases of trauma across all age groups except for those aged 2–14 (+50%, or +22 cases among children under 2 and +4.2%, or +77 cases among adults), allergies in children (+16%, or +73 cases), and, in smaller numbers, chickenpox and viral syndrome among children under 2 (respectively +13.5%, or +13 cases, and +11.3%, or +14 cases).
