Key Points
In Week 06 (February 6–12, 2023), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics rose slightly among children under 2 years of age (+5%, or +310 visits), fell among children aged 2–14 (-8%, or -2,009 visits) for the first time since early January, and remained stable among adults.
Medical procedures for influenza/flu-like illness rose again for the third consecutive week among children under 2 years of age (+38%, or +66 procedures) and among adults (+12%, or +694 procedures). This increase is accompanied by a continued rise in cases of bronchitis in the same age groups, at levels observed in previous years (+23%, or +39 cases, among children under 2 years of age, and +12%, or +321 cases, among adults).
Notably, among children under 2 years of age, most indicators showed an increase, albeit with low case numbers, particularly for suspected COVID-19 (+100%, or +6 cases), pneumonia (+67%, or +12 cases), and viral syndrome (+31%, or +39 cases).
Procedures for gastroenteritis are slightly up (low case numbers) among children under 2 years of age (+7%, or 36 procedures) and those aged 75 and older (+9%, or 13 procedures) but are trending toward stabilization. Conjunctivitis continues to rise among children under 2 years of age (+17%, or +58 cases) and those aged 15–74 (+14%, or +59 cases).
Among other indicators, we note: an increase in cases due to falls (+18%, or +24 cases) and trauma (+8%, or +22 cases) among those aged 75 and older, as well as an increase in cases due to anxiety among those aged 65 and older (+13%, or +19 cases).
