Summary
During Week 6 (February 5–11, 2018), overall activity at SOS Médecins clinics remained stable among adults and declined slightly among children (-2.4%, or 696 fewer visits).
Consultations for seasonal illnesses remained stable or even declined for most indicators among children and adults. However, there was an increase in consultations for bronchitis among adults (+18%, or +502 visits) and, to a lesser extent, among children (+5%, or +73 visits), as well as an increase in ENT conditions among adults (+5%, or +440 visits). Consultations for influenza/flu-like syndrome continue to decline among children (-14% in Week 5 and -11% in Week 6), while they have stabilized among adults (-7% in Week 5 and -1% in Week 6). They still account for 10.4% of SOS Médecins consultations among children and 11.7% of consultations among adults. Consultations for bronchiolitis have stabilized (290 visits in Week 6) and still account for 5% of activity among children under 2 years of age, compared to 11% at the peak of the epidemic.
Among nonspecific indicators, there has been an increase in consultations among adults for isolated fever (+18%, or +57 visits) and asthma (+11%, or +53 visits).
Among the most common conditions, an increase in visits for vomiting (+10%, or +52 visits) and chickenpox (+39%, or +104 visits) was noted among children aged 2 to 14. There was also an increase in abdominal pain among people aged 75 and older (+15%, or +25 visits). Finally, at the national level, visits for measles among children began to decline in Week 6 and continued the downward trend that began in Week 5 among adults.
