SOS Médecins National Newsletter, December 27, 2011

Nationally and across regions, SOS Médecins’ activity remained stable across all age groups over the past week, though it was slightly lower than in 2010 for the same period.

Over the past week, flu diagnoses have declined slightly both nationally and in the regions. This trend applies to all age groups, except for patients over 75 years of age, among whom a slight increase is observed (+12%* compared to the previous week). The influenza indicator accounts for less than 1.5% of total activity at the associations and is at a lower level than that observed at the end of 2010. This trend is also observed in emergency departments (OSCOUR® network).

The bronchiolitis indicator for children under 2 years of age remained stable over the past week. However, it remains at levels higher than those of the previous two years.

The gastroenteritis indicator is stable among adults and declining among children (-22%* compared to the previous week). This indicator accounts for 9% of the total activity of the associations and is at a level equivalent to that observed last year during the same period.

The death indicator is stable and comparable to 2010 levels for the period.

The measles indicator is stable at a low level.
