Key Points

  • In week 51 (December 18–24, 2023), activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased among those aged 75 and older (+12%, or +705 visits) and remained stable in other age groups.

  • Consultations for influenza/flu-like illness continued to rise among children and those aged 75 and older (up 17% and 39%, respectively, or 318 and 66 consultations) and remained stable among adults aged 15–74.

  • Procedures for pneumonia, which have been rising across all age groups since Week 37, continue to rise among adults (+16%, or +212 procedures) and have been declining among children for the past two weeks (-8%, or -84 procedures vs. Week 50). The observed level remains very high compared to the previous two years, particularly among children.

  • Other indicators of respiratory conditions continue to rise only among those aged 75 and older, particularly for asthma attacks (+56%, or +32 visits), acute bronchitis (+14%, or +71 visits), and upper respiratory tract conditions (+8%, or +34 visits).

  • Among other indicators, there was an increase in procedures for gastroenteritis (+43%, or +50 procedures), malaise (+67%, or +22 procedures), and isolated fever (+30%, or +18 procedures) among those aged 75 and older, vomiting among those aged 15–74 (+26%, or +59 visits), urinary tract infections among adults (+12%, or +178 visits), and dental and ENT disorders among children under 2 years of age (+41%, or +28 visits). These indicators, however, remain at levels comparable to those of previous years.
