SOS Médecins National Newsletter, December 21, 2010
Data from SOS Médecins Aix-Gardanne is now included in the report.
Between Week 49 and Week 50, the total volume of activity for SOS Médecins associations increased by 5.9%. This increase mainly concerns children aged 2 to 14 (+8.2%). However, activity in this age group showed a slight decrease toward the end of the week. Regionally, the increase in activity is observed in the southern and central-eastern areas. In the northern and western regions, activity is stabilizing.
Reported clinical flu diagnoses rose by 80% compared to the previous week. This trend primarily affects children under 15 and adults under 65. Reasons for calls regarding flu-like symptoms are also increasing, though more moderately (+17%). These trends are observed across all regions. In emergency departments participating in the Oscour® network, a similar trend in flu-like symptoms is recorded.
The trend in the "gastroenteritis" indicator continued over the past week. However, in the North, West, and Île-de-France regions, this indicator has stabilized.
Among children under 2 years of age, calls for "bronchiolitis and respiratory conditions in infants" recorded over the past week have remained stable since the beginning of December, except in the Central-East and South regions, where this indicator continues to rise.
Across all SOS Médecins associations, the number of certified deaths has risen slightly compared to the previous week.
