SOS Médecins National Newsletter, December 14, 2010

Data from SOS Médecins La Rochelle is now included in the report.

Between Week 47 and Week 48, the total volume of activity for SOS Médecins associations increased by 7.5%. This increase mainly concerns children aged 2 to 14 (+9.8%). Regionally, there was a more pronounced increase in the number of cases toward the end of the past week in the Northern region.

The rise in clinical flu diagnoses continues, with a 61% increase compared to the previous week. This trend primarily affects children under 15 (+77%) and adults under 65 (+52%). Reasons for calls regarding flu-like symptoms are also increasing, though more moderately (+12%). In emergency departments participating in the Oscour® network, visits for flu-like symptoms are also on the rise.

The trend in the "gastroenteritis" indicator continued over the past week and affects regions in the northern half of France, with the exception of the Île-de-France region. However, the proportion of calls related to gastroenteritis remains comparable to that of previous weeks (18%).

Among children under 2 years of age, calls for "bronchiolitis and respiratory conditions in infants" recorded over the past week have stabilized compared to previous weeks. They account for half of all calls for this age group.

Across all SOS Médecins associations, the number of certified deaths remained stable compared to the previous week. In contrast, in the North region, there was an increase in the number of certified deaths over the past week.
