Summary
In week 49 (December 4–10), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics rose slightly among children aged 2–14 (+5.6%, or +1,243 visits) and among adults aged 15–74 (+4.7%, or +1,830 visits).
Among seasonal illnesses, which were mostly on the rise across all age groups over the past week, the following stand out in particular: - a sharp increase in consultations for influenza/flu-like illness among both children (+116%, or +510 consultations) and adults (+69%, or +854 consultations). These consultations account for 4.1% of the total coded activity of the SOS Médecins associations and follow the same trend as that observed during the same period last year, - an increase in consultations for bronchitis (+17.2%, or +468 visits), pneumonia (+25%, or +107 visits) and asthma (+23.5%, or +113 visits) among adults, - an increase in consultations for isolated fever among children aged 2–14 (+26.6%, or +110 visits) ,- a slight increase in consultations for bronchiolitis among children under 2 years of age (+7%, or +51 consultations), with the volume of activity remaining comparable to that of the previous year.
Among the most frequently encountered conditions at SOS Médecins clinics, excluding seasonal illnesses, the following were noted:- in children: an increase in visits for viral syndrome (+17.4%, or +117 visits) and vomiting (+20.2%, or +93 visits),- in adults: an increase in visits for anxiety (8.7%, or +64 visits) among those aged 15–74 and for low back pain/sciatica among those aged 75 and older (+10.7%, or +20 visits).
