Summary

In Week 31 (July 29–August 4, 2019), total SOS Médecins activity was again slightly higher this week among those aged 75 and older (+6%, or +420 cases), lower among children (-7.3%), and stable among those aged 15–74.

Over the past week, non-specific and seasonal indicators were mostly stable or declining. In particular, cases directly related to extreme heat decreased across all age groups: heatstroke (-88%, or -581 cases) and dehydration (-53%, or -128 cases).

However, there was a slight increase in cases for
:- asthma attacks among children aged 2–14 (+17%) and adults aged 75 and older (+61%),
- allergies among those aged 75 and older (+20%),
- viral meningitis among children (+5 cases).

Among the most common conditions, there was an increase in cases for
:- acute abdominal pain across all age groups (+11% in children, +14.6% in adults), as well as for digestive problems exclusively in adults (+11%),
- bronchitis (+14%) in children aged 2–14;
- low back pain/sciatica in adults (+9%),
- trauma (+17%) and heart problems (+25%) in those aged 75 and older.
