Summary
In week 34 (August 23–29, 2021), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics remained stable across all age groups except for children under 2 years of age, where a 7% increase was observed, representing 205 additional visits. Medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 across all age groups, as well as their share of total activity, continued to decline for the fifth consecutive week (1,796 procedures vs. 1,887 in Week 33, a decrease of 5%). The share of activity remained stable at 3.1% (vs. 3.0% in Week 33). This decline is observed among adults, while an increase is observed among children under 15 (+11%, or 24 procedures). At the regional level, SOS Médecins medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 are stable or declining, except in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté (+30%, or 13 procedures), Centre-Val-de-Loire (+27%, or +10 cases), Île-de-France (+14%, or +25 cases), Pays de la Loire (+49%, or +33 cases), and Nouvelle-Aquitaine (+8%, or +14 cases). Since monitoring began on March 3, 2020, 241,487 medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 have been performed. Seasonal indicators are declining, with observed levels similar to or even lower than in previous years. Among other conditions, there has been an increase in procedures for trauma (+18%, or +57 procedures) and asthma (+45%, or +46 procedures) among children under 15, as well as for isolated fever across all age groups except those aged 75 and older (+16% to +20%). Most of the most common conditions, particularly gastrointestinal ones, are on the rise among children under 2 years of age: vomiting (+73%), viral syndrome (+48%), diarrhea (+20%), and gastroenteritis (+15%). Among adults, there was an increase in cases of pneumonia (+12%) among those aged 75 and older.
