Summary

  • During week 33 (August 14–20, 2017), which included the August 15 holiday, total activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased by 6% for children and 9% for adults.

  • Consultations for seasonal conditions were: - stable or declining among children, with the exception of consultations for insect bites, which rose by 20%, - on the rise for most conditions among adults, in line with overall activity, specifically with an increase in consultations for isolated fever (+7%), asthma (+6%), infectious conjunctivitis (+10%), and heat-related conditions (+36%—primarily dehydration), as well as allergies (+21%) and insect bites (+48%) among those aged 15–74. The proportion of seasonal conditions in total activity is comparable to that of the previous two years.

  • Most of the conditions most frequently seen in outpatient visits are on the rise. Among children under 2 years of age, notable increases include diarrhea (+56%) and skin conditions (+31%), and an increase in bronchitis among 2- to 14-year-olds. Among adults aged 15–74, there was an increase in visits for low back pain/sciatica (+17%), urinary tract infections (+23%), and anxiety (+17%); and among those aged 75 and older, there was an increase in abdominal pain (+14%), pneumonia (+15%), heart failure (+15%), and deterioration in general health (+17%).
