During the week of August 12–18, activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased by 7.6% (+3,103 consultations) compared to the previous week nationwide. This increase is linked to the higher volume of activity typically observed during public holidays (August 15). The increase in activity was primarily observed among adults aged 15–74 and in the Centre/Ile-de-France, West, Southwest, and Northeast regions. Among the main diagnoses recorded by the associations, there was an increase in visits among children for acute lower respiratory infections (+19%, +46 visits), as well as for ENT conditions (+16%) and trauma (+17%). Among adults, most of the main diagnoses are on the rise, in line with the overall increase in activity. Notably, there was a 20% increase in acute lower respiratory infections (+163 cases), sore throats (20%, +213 cases), and urinary tract infections (+13%, or +75 visits).Seasonal indicators
The asthma attack indicator is stable across all age groups except among adults aged 15–74, for whom a slight increase is noted (+20%, +27 weekly cases). The numbers are comparable to those of previous years. Consultations for allergies increased by 20% compared to the previous week (+94 consultations). This increase was again observed among adults aged 15–74 (+37%, +90 cases) and among children under 5 (+15%, +13 cases). The numbers are slightly higher than those of the previous two years. The gastroenteritis indicator also increased over the past week (+9%, or +158 consultations). The numbers remain comparable to those of 2011 and 2012. Calls to SOS Médecins for heatstroke and dehydration continue to decline across all age groups. With 52 consultations for heatstroke (-38%) and 86 consultations for dehydration (-17%) over the past week, the numbers are close to those recorded in the two previous years during this period.The indicator for general malaise has risen slightly among people aged 75 and older (+17%, 15 cases per week), with numbers comparable to 2012 and slightly higher than in 2011.
