SOS Médecins National Newsletter, August 16, 2011

Over the past week, the total volume of activity at SOS Médecins clinics remained stable compared to the previous week (-0.8%). However, it increased slightly over the last three days, with Monday, August 15, being a holiday following the weekend. The number of cases involving heat-related conditions (heatstroke, dehydration, fainting) has remained low over the past few days, consistent with the temperatures recorded during this period, which were below seasonal norms across the entire country. SOS Médecins activity related to diagnoses of fever, allergies, and fainting remained stable over the past week. The number of cases involving insect bites is higher than last week but remains within the range observed since the start of summer. No change was noted in indicators for gastroenteritis, diarrhea, and abdominal pain over the past week. Deaths certified by SOS Médecins associations have increased over the past three days in parallel with the total volume of activity.
