Key Points

  • In Week 14 (April 1–7, 2024), activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased across all age groups, with the most significant rise among children under 2 and adults aged 15–74 (+7%, or +427 and +3,937 visits, respectively).

  • Across all age groups, there was an increase in cases of allergies (+21%, or 246 more cases, with the exception of children under 2, where numbers remained stable) and acute gastroenteritis (+13%, or 764 more cases, slightly higher than in previous years among adults). Procedures for scarlet fever continued to rise (+23%, or +80 procedures among children; +82%, or 31 vs. 17 procedures among adults).

  • There is also a very slight uptick in respiratory conditions: +12% for ENT conditions among adults (particularly those aged 75 and older at +24%), +10% for pneumonia (respectively +49 and +82 cases among children and those aged 15–74), +13% for asthma attacks (respectively +12 and +95 cases among children under 2 and those aged 15–74), and +38% for COVID-19 (+80 cases across all age groups).

  • Among the most common conditions, notable increases in procedures for low back pain/sciatica (+21%) were observed among adults aged 15–74, as well as for general health deterioration and heart failure—though with small sample sizes—among those aged 75 and older (+10%, or +28 and +16 procedures, respectively).

  • Regarding mental health indicators, there was an increase in procedures for anxiety across all age groups (+17%, or 184 procedures).
