Summary

In Week 14 (April 1–7, 2019), total SOS Médecins activity rose slightly among adults aged 15–74 (+4.5%, or +1,872 visits) and remained stable in other age groups.

Over the past week, the following trends were observed:

  • among children under 2 years of age, a slight increase in cases of isolated fever (+11%, or +23 cases).

  • among adults, particularly those aged 15–74, an increase in cases for: - allergies (+8.4%, or +88 cases) and asthma (+26.6%, or +123 cases) at levels identical to or close to those observed over the past two years; - viral meningitis (14 cases in S14 compared to 9 in S13); these diagnoses are distributed evenly across the entire metropolitan area.

Across all age groups, there was a slight increase in procedures for bronchitis (+6% among children and +8% among adults) as well as for gastroenteritis (+5% among children and +11% among adults). Among adults aged 15–74, procedures for abdominal pain and various digestive problems increased by the same proportions. Finally, among adults of all ages, there was also an increase in procedures for upper respiratory tract conditions (+7%) and urinary tract infections (+7%).
