SOS Médecins National Newsletter, April 5, 2011

The first issue of the spring newsletter is being produced this week, featuring updates on the syndrome-based indicators for allergies, asthma, gastroenteritis, measles, and deaths. Over the past week, the total volume of activity at SOS Médecins clinics remained stable compared to the previous week across all age groups.

The proportion of cases for the "gastroenteritis" indicator is stable across all geographic areas. It accounts for less than 15% of call reasons. The proportion of cases for the allergies indicator has been rising steadily since late March. SOS Médecins activity related to asthma in children under two years of age has also been rising steadily over the past two weeks, primarily based on the indicator derived from diagnoses.

The increase in measles diagnoses continues among adults. Among children, there has been a decrease in the number of cases over the past week.

The number of deaths certified by SOS Médecins associations has remained stable over the past week.

There was a sharp increase in insect bites over the past weekend, an increase already observed the previous weekend (graphs not shown).
