SOS Médecins National Newsletter, April 26, 2011
Over the past week, the total volume of activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased slightly compared to the previous week across all geographic regions. These increases were primarily observed among children aged 2 to 14 and adults aged 15 to 74 and were linked to the extended Easter weekend.
The proportion of cases for the "allergies" indicator increased compared to last week and accounts for just over 2% of activity. SOS Médecins activity related to asthma in children over two years of age is decreasing and accounts for less than 1% of cases. The share of cases for the "gastroenteritis" indicator has been steadily decreasing since the beginning of the year across all geographic areas. It accounts for approximately 15% of call reasons.
After a sharp increase in week 14, the number of measles cases continued to decline last week (week 16).
The number of deaths certified by SOS Médecins associations increased over the past week.
There was a spike in insect bites over the past weekend, as well as an increase in chickenpox cases (graphs not shown).
