Summary
In week 16 of 2017 (April 17–23), overall activity at SOS Médecins clinics remained stable across all age groups.
Among seasonal conditions, the number of consultations for fever alone increased among children (+18%) and continued to rise (+22%) among adults aged 15–74; the proportion of activity remains comparable to the previous two years. Consultations for allergies decreased across all age groups but began to rise again (+20%) among children under 2 years of age. Among adults, consultations increased for pneumonia (+18%) and for bronchitis (+16%) only among those over 75 years of age. Finally, there was an increase in consultations for gastroenteritis (+11%) among children over 2 years of age and adults aged 15–74, with a lower proportion of cases compared to the previous two years.
Furthermore, among children, there is a continued increase in consultations for chickenpox (+17% among those under 2 years of age). Consultations for dental/ENT disorders (+33%) are on the rise among children under 2 years of age. The number of consultations for children aged 2–14 is increasing for acute abdominal pain (+24%). Among adults under 75, there has been a continued increase in consultations for urinary tract infections (+13%), as well as an increase in consultations for low back pain/sciatica (+14%) and digestive disorders (+11%). Among those over 75, there has been an increase in visits for deterioration in general health (+14%) and trauma (+10%).
