Summary

  • In week 16 of 2017 (April 17–23), overall activity at SOS Médecins clinics remained stable across all age groups.

  • Among seasonal conditions, the number of consultations for fever alone increased among children (+18%) and continued to rise (+22%) among adults aged 15–74; the proportion of activity remains comparable to the previous two years. Consultations for allergies decreased across all age groups but began to rise again (+20%) among children under 2 years of age. Among adults, consultations increased for pneumonia (+18%) and for bronchitis (+16%) only among those over 75 years of age. Finally, there was an increase in consultations for gastroenteritis (+11%) among children over 2 years of age and adults aged 15–74, with a lower proportion of cases compared to the previous two years.

  • Furthermore, among children, there is a continued increase in consultations for chickenpox (+17% among those under 2 years of age). Consultations for dental/ENT disorders (+33%) are on the rise among children under 2 years of age. The number of consultations for children aged 2–14 is increasing for acute abdominal pain (+24%). Among adults under 75, there has been a continued increase in consultations for urinary tract infections (+13%), as well as an increase in consultations for low back pain/sciatica (+14%) and digestive disorders (+11%). Among those over 75, there has been an increase in visits for deterioration in general health (+14%) and trauma (+10%).
