Summary
In Week 16 (April 15–21, 2019), total SOS Médecins activity increased compared to the previous week among those aged 75 and older (+9%, or +629 cases) and decreased for the second consecutive week among children aged 2 to 14 (-9.7%, or -1,591 cases). Activity remained stable among children under 2 and adults aged 15–74.
Over the past week, the following trends were observed:
among children, an increase for the second consecutive week in cases of chickenpox (+18%, or +133 cases). The proportion of cases remains comparable to that of the past two years;
across all age groups, an increase in cases of insect bites (+88% across all ages, or +134 cases), which may be linked to the rise in temperatures during the week. The level of activity remains within the ranges observed in the previous two years;
among children aged 2–14 and adults, a moderate increase in cases related to allergies, at levels comparable to those observed in the past two years.
It is also noted that the most common procedures among people aged 75 and older are all on the rise, particularly procedures for trauma (+19%), ENT conditions (+32%), urinary tract infections (+19%), heart failure (+26%), and acute abdominal pain (+26%).
