Summary
During Week 16 (April 16–22, 2018), the all-cause activity of SOS Médecins clinics decreased among children aged 2–14 (-13.8%, or 2,817 fewer visits) and adults aged 15–74 (-7.5%, or 2,971 fewer visits). It remained stable in other age groups.
Among seasonal conditions and as a result of recent weather conditions, Week 16 saw an increase in visits among both children and adults for insect bites (+97%, or +194 visits), allergies (+54%, or +885 visits), burns (+83%, or +46 visits), and heatstroke (119 visits in S16 compared to 3 in S15). In S16, the share of activity for each of these indicators in the total activity of SOS Médecins associations was higher than in previous years during the same period.
Among non-specific indicators, there was a moderate increase in consultations for isolated fever in adults (+7.5%, or +27 visits) and for dehydration in people aged 75 and older (+159%, or +27 visits). There was also a decrease in visits for asthma, except among children under 2 years of age (+41%, or +21 visits).
Among the most common conditions, there was an increase in visits for dental problems among children under 2 years of age (+21%, or +23 visits), trauma among children aged 2–14 (+17%, or +57 visits), and adults aged 15–74 (+6%, or +78 visits). Among people aged 75 and older, there was an increase in visits for trauma (+11%), deterioration in general health (+13%), low back pain (+14%), and reports of death (+12%).
