Summary
During Week 13 (March 26–April 1, 2018), the overall activity of SOS Médecins clinics remained stable across all age groups.
Among seasonal illnesses, there was a 7% increase in consultations for bronchitis and upper respiratory tract infections across all age groups (representing 259 and 1,272 additional visits, respectively). Gastroenteritis continued to rise for the fourth consecutive week among children aged 2–14 (+7%, or +127 visits). Across all age groups, the decline in visits for influenza/flu-like illness continued (-22%, or -692 visits). The overall activity level remains significantly higher than that of last year during this period.
Apart from seasonal illnesses, the increases observed are moderate (maximum variation of +75 weekly visits). Among the non-specific indicators, the following stand out: an increase in visits for isolated fever and infectious conjunctivitis among children aged 2–14 (+9% and +19%, respectively) and adults (+9% and +13%, respectively) , for asthma in children (+14%) and adults aged 15–74 (+6%), and for allergies in adults aged 15–74 only (+9%). Among the most common conditions, we note a continued increase in visits for chickenpox among children aged 2–14 (+29%, or 115 visits). Also among children, there was an increase of approximately +10% for vomiting, diarrhea, and acute abdominal pain. Among adults aged 75 and older, there was an increase in visits for urinary tract infections (+41%, or +73 visits) and trauma (+19%, or +61 visits).
