SOS Médecins National Newsletter, April 19, 2011
Over the past week, the total volume of activity at SOS Médecins clinics remained stable compared to the previous week across all age groups and geographic regions. However, a decrease was observed among children aged 2 to 14 in the Centre/Ile-de-France region, which is linked to the school vacation period.
The proportion of cases for the "allergies" indicator decreased compared to last week and accounts for less than 2% of activity. SOS Médecins activity related to asthma in children over two years of age is also decreasing and accounts for less than 1% of cases. The proportion of cases for the "gastroenteritis" indicator has been steadily decreasing since the beginning of the year across all geographic regions. It accounts for approximately 15% of call reasons.
After rising sharply in week 14, the number of measles cases decreased last week (week 15).
The number of deaths certified by SOS Médecins associations remained stable over the past week.
There was a spike in cases of illness among people over 75 years of age over the past weekend, as well as an increase in cases of chickenpox (graphs not shown). However, the numbers observed are low.
