Summary

In Week 15 (April 8–14, 2019), total SOS Médecins activity was slightly down compared to the previous week, particularly among children aged 2 to 14 (-12%, or 2,317 fewer cases).

Over the past week, the following trends were observed:

  • among children under 2 years of age, an increase in cases of chickenpox (+39%, or +56 cases) and allergies (+25%, or +32 cases) at levels identical to or close to those observed over the past two years;

  • among children aged 2 to 14, a decrease in cases of asthma (-23%, or -83 cases);

  • among adults, a decrease in procedures for: - allergies (-18%, or -214 procedures) and asthma (-10%, or -71 procedures) at levels identical to or close to those observed over the past two years; - viral meningitis (11 cases in S15 compared to 14 in S14); these diagnoses are distributed evenly across the entire metropolitan area.

There was also a decrease in procedures for gastroenteritis across all age groups (-12%, or -810 procedures). Among adults over 75, procedures for general health deterioration, bronchitis, and low back pain/sciatica are on the rise (up 26% or 68 procedures, up 17% or 67 procedures, and up 12% or 28 procedures, respectively).
