Summary

  • In week 14 of 2017 (April 3–9), overall activity at SOS Médecins clinics decreased by 10% among children (especially those aged 2–14) and by 4% among adults aged 15–74, but increased by 2.4% among people aged 75 and older.

  • Among seasonal conditions, visits for fever alone increased among children (+10%) and adults aged 75 and older (+26%), at levels comparable to those of the previous two years. Consultations for asthma continue to rise among adults (+12%) but are stabilizing among children. Consultations for allergies are also increasing for the second consecutive week among children aged 2–14 (+11%), but remain stable among adults. Across all age groups, the proportion of consultations for allergies out of total activity is higher than in the previous two years. Finally, there has been an increase in consultations for pneumonia among children aged 2–14 (+22%) and a 6% increase for bronchitis among adults (particularly among those aged 75 and older: +25%). The proportion of activity for bronchitis remains lower than in the previous two years.

  • Despite the overall decline in activity observed among children, among the most common conditions, there was an increase in consultations for chickenpox (+5%) and vomiting (+28%) among children under 2 years of age. Among adults aged 75 and older, there was an increase in consultations for general malaise (+10%), falls (+26%), and heart failure (+13%). No significant changes were observed among adults aged 15–74.
