Summary
During week 35 (August 28–September 3, 2017), emergency department visits and subsequent hospitalizations remained stable among children and decreased slightly among adults.
Emergency room visits for most seasonal conditions were stable or declining, with the exception of visits: - among children: for asthma attacks (+33%, or +158 visits), conjunctivitis (+15%, or +34 visits) among 2- to 14-year-olds, and general malaise among children under 2 years of age (+14.6%, or +16 visits) - among adults: for asthma (+4.6%).
Among the most common conditions, there was an increase in visits for bronchiolitis in children under 2 years old for the second consecutive week (+25%, or +38 visits), as well as for foreign body ingestion in children aged 2–14 (+11.5%). The most common conditions among adults are all stable or declining.
