Key Points
In Week 38 (September 18–24, 2023), the third week after the start of the school year, emergency department activity remained stable across all age groups. There was an increase in visits linked to seasonal respiratory indicators, particularly for:
ENT infections (+20%, or +1,643 visits) among children;
asthma in children under 2 and in those aged 15–74 (up 23% and 32%, respectively, or 158 and 331 visits);
bronchiolitis and cough (up 38% and 26%, respectively, or 323 and 67 visits) in children under 2;
Visits for suspected COVID-19 are down among children and stable among adults.
Among other indicators, based on small sample sizes, there was an increase in visits for suicidal behavior (+7%, or +25 visits) among those aged 45–64, and for conjunctivitis (+60%, or +26 visits) among those aged 75 and older.
In the context of the Rugby World Cup, which began on September 8, no unusual variations were observed in the monitored indicators.
