Summary
In week 36 (September 3–9), total emergency department visits and hospitalizations following visits increased among children (+8% and +10%, representing 5,288 more visits and 647 more hospitalizations, respectively) and remained stable among adults.
Following this back-to-school week, notable increases were observed in visits for asthma among children under 15 (+82%, or 600 visits) and isolated fever among children under 2 only (+9%, or 87 visits). Other non-specific indicators remained stable or declined among both adults and children.
Seasonal conditions are mostly stable or declining among both adults and children. However, among adults aged 15–74, there was an increase in visits for burns (+9%, or 78 visits) and chickenpox (+37%, or 6 visits).
Regarding the most common conditions, they are mostly stable or declining among adults. Among children, there was an increase in visits for ENT infections (+12%) among those under 15, abdominal pain and trauma among 2- to 14-year-olds, and bronchiolitis (+65%) among those under 2.
