In week 40 (September 30–October 6), overall emergency department activity and hospitalizations following visits remained stable across all age groups.

The few increases observed mainly affected children under 2 years of age, with small numbers of cases. In this age group, there was an increase in visits for acute bronchitis (+33%, or +29 visits) and bronchiolitis (+9%, or +62 visits), vomiting (+9%, or +36 visits), dehydration (+50%, or +11 visits), conjunctivitis (+32%, or +32 visits), allergies (+15%, or +21 visits), and urinary tract infections (+15%).

In other age groups, the only notable increases were in visits for isolated fever (+8%, or +90 visits) among 2- to 14-year-olds, acute bronchitis (+10%, or +113 visits) among adults, allergies (+11%, or +10 visits), and stroke (+9%, or +113 visits) among those aged 75 and older.
