Summary
In week 39 (September 24–30), total emergency department activity declined slightly among children (-3.1%, or 2,909 fewer visits) and adults (-3.5%, or 10,818 fewer visits). Hospitalizations following emergency department visits remained stable or declined across all age groups.
Most non-specific indicators were stable or declining among both adults and children. Notable trends among children included a decrease in visits for asthma (-12.4%, or 319 fewer visits) and a slight increase in visits for allergies (+3%, or 27 more visits).
Among seasonal indicators, there was a slight increase in visits for infectious conjunctivitis among children and adults aged 15–74 (9.4% and 12% respectively, or 28 and 71 more visits) as well as for bronchitis among adults (6.2%, or 66 more visits).
The most common conditions are all stable or declining across all age groups.
