Summary
In Week 46 (November 12–18), the second week following the All Saints’ Day holiday, total activity and hospitalizations following emergency department visits increased among children under 15 years of age (+11.7%, or +9,480 visits and +815 hospitalizations) and remained stable among adults.
In line with overall activity, most indicators are rising among children under 15. Among children, there is an increase in visits for respiratory conditions (ENT conditions +29%, bronchitis +72%, pneumonia +47%, influenza +78% among 2- to 14-year-olds, bronchiolitis +30%, asthma attacks +69%—also rising among adults) and isolated fever (+11%). Gastroenteritis continues to rise across all age groups (+7%). Finally, among children, there has been an increase in visits for urinary tract infections (+16%) in children under 2 years of age and foreign body ingestion (+10%) in children aged 2–14.
All indicators are at levels consistent with those of previous years.
