Summary

In week 46 (November 11–17), total emergency department activity increased among children (+6%, or +4,801 visits) as well as hospitalizations following visits (+9%, or +663 hospitalizations).

Over the past week, the main increases were observed for
:- asthma, which was more pronounced among children (+62%, or +889 visits) than among those aged 15–74 (+17%, or +152 visits);
- bronchiolitis among children under 2 years of age (+41%, or +587 visits);
- acute bronchitis (+53%, or +169 visits), pneumonia (+23%, or +111 visits), and ENT conditions (+24%, or +1,852 visits) among children under 15;
- gastroenteritis (+17%, or +371 visits) and vomiting (+8%, or +44 visits) among 2- to 14-year-olds.

There was also a moderate increase in visits for influenza/flu-like illness among children aged 2–14 (+23%, or +24 visits) and adults aged 15–74 (+13%, or +38 visits).
