Summary

In Week 21 (May 20–26, 2019), emergency room visits and hospitalizations following such visits remained stable across all age groups.

For the past week, emergency department visits showed an increase primarily for: - insect bites (+46% across all ages, or +286 visits), a trend consistent with typical fluctuations during this period; - allergies and asthma attacks among children (+23.5% and +13%, respectively) and, to a lesser extent, among adults (+8% and +6%, respectively); - conjunctivitis (+29%, or +78 visits) and chickenpox (+12%, or +59 visits) among children; - measles across all age groups (+81%, or +39 visits) - isolated fever (+9%, or +88 visits) and malaise (+15%, or +83 visits) among children aged 2–14, and isolated fever among adults (+9%, or +98 visits).

Among the most common conditions, the main trends include an increase in visits for dermatological issues for the second consecutive week among children under 2 years of age (+14%), as well as for ENT conditions among children (+11.5%, or +724 visits).
