Key Points

• In Week 17 (April 24–30, 2023), emergency department visits and hospitalizations following such visits remained stable across all age groups.

• Respiratory conditions continued to decline among children and remained stable among adults, with the exception of asthma attacks, which increased among those aged 75 and older (+44%, or +30 visits). Visits for suspected COVID-19 also continued the decline that began the previous week across all age groups (-26% among children and -12% among adults).

• Other indicators were also mostly declining among children, stable among those aged 15–74, and a few rare increases in small numbers were observed among those aged 75 and older: allergies +16%, isolated fever +12%, and urinary tract infections +11% (the increase in visits for urinary tract infections was also observed among children under 2 years old, at +19%).
