Summary

  • Emergency room visits and hospitalizations from all causes continue to rise among children (+7.5% in visits and +5% in hospitalizations) (particularly among those aged 2–14) and remain stable among adults.Among seasonal conditions, most indicators are rising among children, particularly visits for asthma (+16.6%), bronchitis (+15%), pneumonia (+18%), isolated fever (+11%), and general malaise (+10%). Among adults, there is also an increase in visits for asthma (+6%) and for ENT conditions (+10.5%). The proportion of activity for the various seasonal indicators is comparable to or lower than that of the previous two years for both children and adults, with the exception of the proportion for asthma in children (higher than in the previous two years).

  • Among the most frequently seen conditions in emergency departments, there was a sharp increase in visits for dermatological issues among children under 2 years of age (+60%, or +81 visits). This increase was primarily observed in the Occitanie, Île-de-France, and Nouvelle-Aquitaine regions. Also noteworthy is the increase in visits for neurological problems among children aged 2–14 (+10.5%) and the continued rise in visits for trauma among children aged 2–14 (+11%) and for nonspecific abdominal pain among children under 2 years of age (+26%).
