Key Points
In Week 11 (March 9–15), the OSCOUR network recorded an increase in visits and hospitalizations following visits among 2- to 14-year-olds (up 8% and 10%, respectively, or 4,113 more visits and 519 more hospitalizations). Activity remained stable in other age groups.
Visits for asthma attacks continued to rise, reaching levels higher than those observed in the previous three years among children aged 2–14 and adults aged 15–74 (up 67% and 42%, respectively, or 911 and 546 visits). At the same time, there has been a sharp increase in allergies among those aged 75 and older (+51%, or +43 visits).
Among 2- to 14-year-olds, as the school year begins, there is also an increase in visits for:
ENT infections (+13%, or 437 visits).
Gastrointestinal complaints: abdominal pain (specific: +14%, or +148 visits; nonspecific: +13%, or +359 visits) and vomiting (+11%, or +89 visits).
Fainting spells (+21%, or +151 visits) and neurological disorders (+7%, or +67 visits).
Regarding mental health, there was an increase in visits for suicidal behavior among those under 15 (+8%, or +15 visits, already on the rise in week 10) and adults (+9%, or +130 visits). Conduct disorders are also on the rise among 2- to 14-year-olds (+17%, or +108 visits).
