Key Points
In Week 10 (March 2–8, 2026), coinciding with the start of the school year in Zone B, the number of emergency department visits and hospitalizations following those visits increased among children aged 2–14 (up 15%, or 7,631 visits, and up 9%, or 397 hospitalizations, respectively). They were down among children under 2 years old (down 8%, or 1,568 visits, and down 9%, or 290 hospitalizations) and stable among adults.
Among children aged 2–14, there was an increase in visits for:
trauma (+24%, or 4,599 visits);
asthma attacks (+42%, or +402 visits);
nonspecific abdominal pain (+12%, or 310 visits);
neurological symptoms (+18%, or +144 visits);
suicidal thoughts and suicide attempts (+30%, or 150 more visits);
malaise (+12%, or +53 visits).
Most of these indicators remained at levels comparable to those of the previous three years during the same period.
Visits for asthma attacks also increased among adults (+38%, or +395 visits), reaching a level slightly higher than in previous years during this time of year. Other respiratory indicators continued to decline among both children and adults.
Finally, there was an increase in visits for conjunctivitis among those aged 15–74 (+24%, or +51 visits) and for cardiac decompensation among those aged 75 and older (+8%, or +116 visits).
