Summary
In Week 10 (March 2–8, 2020), the final week of school break, emergency room visits and subsequent hospitalizations declined among children under 2 years of age and adults aged 75 and older (down 15.6% and 6.6%, respectively representing a total decrease of -7,234 visits and -11% and -4%, respectively, representing a total decrease of -1,440 hospitalizations) and remained stable in other age groups.
Seasonal and non-specific indicators are mostly stable or declining over the past week. Notable increases were observed in visits for isolated fever among those aged 15–74 (+22%, or +267 visits) and asthma among those aged 2–14 (+12%, or +107 visits). Regarding influenza activity in mainland France, it is declining in 7 regions and stable in the other 6. Corsica has entered the post-epidemic phase.
Among the 10 most common conditions, only visits for trauma (+11%, or +1,814 visits) and abdominal pain (+7%, or +151 visits) among 2- to 14-year-olds are on the rise.
